Do I need to always press the button? 

Yes, if CarKeeps is set to always be on, then you will need to disarm the system by pressing the button, each time you start the vehicle.  If you would like to engage CarKeeps at any time (Ii.e. a threat) the button must be pressed. PLEASE NOTE: If CARKEEPS is set to always be on, then turning the vehicle off will always engage CARKEEPS on startup. The button can always be pressed at any time to engage it on the fly. ALSO IMPORTANT: The button is the main way to restart your vehicle after recovery or anytime CARKEEPS is allowed to shut the vehicle off. 

Must I mount the wireless button?

No, the wireless button is designed to be either kept on your person, or it can be mounted anywhere that is only known to the user. PEASE NOTE: CARKEEPS is your little secret, and it’s important to not tip off the criminal, especially in a carjacking situation, that you have CARKEEPS  and the location of the button must NEVER be obvious. Be smart and keep it hidden well.

 How does it work?

CARKEEPS works by starting a countdown of 2.5minutes, during that time the user can disengage CARKEEPS by pressing the button, if the button is not pressed to disengage CARKEEPS during the countdown, the vehicle will be immobilied, slowly, with all lights functional, and while still in control, to a complete stop. Sirens will sound in and outside the vehicle. 

Can I turn CARKEEPS on from a great distance ?

No, CARKEEPS can only be engaged one of two ways: Every time vehicle is started AND by pressing the button. The wireless button (or wired if desired) must be within 10feet of the vehicle.

How will I find my car if it is stolen?

 As long as CARKEEPS has been installed and used correctly, your vehicle will only get approx 2-4 miles from where it is stolen to where it becomes immobilized. Because of the sirens, the vehicle possibly blocking traffic , and bystanders, Police should be able to find it easily.  

Is it ok to search for my vehicle after it is stolen?We do not recommend doing so. Call the police and report the theft. Placing yourself in any danger is simply not worth it and is one of the reasons we choose to make CARKEEPS. We wanted a system that created space between the criminal and the victim. Your life is worth more than your vehicle, and you have CARKEEPS, so stay safe!

Does CARKEEPS come with a tracker?

NO, We made CARKEEPS the way it is because if the theft is during a CARJACKING, the thief often takes valuables including cell phones. We are working on an APP that may allow the user to share locational information with law enforcement. Stay tuned!

What kind of vehicles are compatible with CARKEEPS?

 All combustable engines.  

Will CARKEEPS work on my electric vehicle?
